ProtonMail's support model doesn’t rely on live representatives but rather on self-service tools on their website, guides, and email support. Different from the more ubiquitous 24/7 customer support provided via telephone or chat, ProtonMail does not offer these user interaction options. However, in addition to email assistance, users can find an extensive library of articles, how-tos, and even videos on virtually any online activity within ProtonMail. These topics include loss of access to the account, account security, and the technical aspects of using ProtonMail Bridge with other email clients.
In much more severe cases, support tickets can be created straight from the users’ accounts using ProtonMail. Real-time 24/7 support is absent, although users are assisted in due time depending on the nature of their concern, with faster response time given to paid users. ProtonMail has adopted this online support model in order to focus on providing encrypted emails, thus maintaining lower fees for their users. Even though the system does not function as a traditional help desk, the purpose of support tickets and web documentation is to cover enough information so that most issues are resolved.
